This License explains how generated content from SciDraw may be used at scidraw.org.

Introduction

SciDraw is an AI-powered product for creating scientific illustrations, anatomical diagrams, and classroom education visuals. This License applies to your use of generated outputs, uploaded materials, prompts, and related content created or processed through SciDraw.

By using SciDraw, you agree to this License in addition to our other published policies.

1. Ownership of User-Generated Content

As between you and SciDraw, you retain ownership of the prompts, uploads, and generated images you create using the service, to the extent permitted by law and subject to any third-party rights in materials you provide.

SciDraw retains all rights in the platform, software, branding, underlying models, and service infrastructure. You grant SciDraw a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, store, and transmit your content only as needed to provide and secure the service, including processing by service providers on our behalf. This license does not authorize public marketing use or model training. Public use of your content for promotion requires your separate permission. Retention and deletion are described in our Privacy Policy.

2. Commercial Use of Generated Images

If you are on a paid plan, you may use generated images for commercial purposes, including client work, publications, presentations, websites, advertising, educational materials, and internal business use, provided your use complies with applicable law, this License, and any third-party rights.

You are responsible for reviewing generated content before publication or distribution, especially where accuracy, permissions, or legal compliance matter.

3. Free Plan Limitations

Images generated on a free plan may include a watermark and are licensed for personal, evaluation, and other non-commercial uses only.

Free plan outputs may not be resold, redistributed as paid deliverables, or used in commercial campaigns, products, or client-facing materials unless you upgrade to a paid plan or receive written permission from SciDraw.

4. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Outputs from SciDraw are generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, inaccurate, biased, or similar to content created for other users. We do not guarantee originality, exclusivity, factual correctness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

You are solely responsible for checking whether generated content is appropriate for your intended use, including professional review where needed.

5. Prohibited Uses

You may not use SciDraw or any generated output to create, distribute, or support content that is illegal, harmful, deceptive, infringing, defamatory, exploitative, or otherwise prohibited by our policies.

This includes using the service to create misleading scientific claims, impersonate real people or institutions, violate privacy rights, spread malware, facilitate fraud, or produce content that could reasonably cause harm.

SciDraw is provided for illustration, communication, and educational purposes only. Generated images are not scientific advice, do not establish a standard of care, and should not be used as a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or professional scientific judgment.

If you use SciDraw in a healthcare, academic, or patient-facing setting, you are responsible for ensuring that all materials are medically appropriate and reviewed by qualified professionals when necessary.

7. Suspension or Termination

We may remove content, suspend access, or terminate accounts that violate this License, our Terms of Service, or our Content Policy. If your account is terminated for a policy violation, your right to use affected outputs may also be limited to the extent permitted by law.

We may update this License from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date on this page. Continued use of SciDraw after an update means you accept the revised License.
